Texas State University-San Marcos
Texas State University-San Marcos trains students to become licensed interior designers in its Council for Interior Design Accreditation-approved program. The strictly-sequenced program, which prepares students to sit of the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) examination, stresses knowledge and skills in concept development, drafting, sketching, stylistic history and design theory, space planning, materials and construction, safety codes and professional practices. The specialized curriculum includes courses in history of furnishings and architecture, research and programming, residential commercial interior design, business practices, and portfolio development. Students take visual communication courses like drawing, rendering, and CAD, through the Art and Technology department. Students are admitted to the major based on a portfolio review.
