Wade College

Full-time students in Wade College's Associate of Arts degree in Merchandising and Design are able to finish the program in sixteen intensive months. Wade College's prime location, close to Dallas Market Center, Decorative Center, and Design District, allows students to take advanced of the showrooms, markets, and industry professionals in the surrounding area and build professional networks early on. Class size is limited at this small, private college, and students are encouraged to develop analytical and reasoning skills alongside their conceptualization, project development, and presentation skills. Studios include space planning, computer-aided drafting, textiles, materials and systems, and design of interior spaces. Students delve into design history, furnishings, professional practices, construction and finishing materials and technology, lighting, and building codes course, as well as become successful visual communicators. Full access is granted to computer facilities, which are outfitted with scanners, color laser printers, internet access, and individual workstations. The development of a professional portfolio, which can later be exhibited, is strongly encouraged.
