Utah State University
Utah State University offers a number of options for students serious about interior design. Students opt for a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or Master of Science degree, depending on their experience and their ultimate career goals. Interior design students learn to identify, research, and solve problems imaginatively, taking into account the function and qualities of the interior space and the resources available. They also delve into legal and ethical issues related to the profession. Specialized course work includes design analysis, programming, aesthetics, space planning, interior construction, equipment, building codes, materials, and furnishings. A student's ability to render ideas is especially important. The foundation for all these skills is laid during the first two years of the program, and then students advance and choose one of two emphases: studio or design sales and marketing.
