Most faculty members are active professionals and offer students the training and support they need for success. The Associate in Applied Science Degree in Interior Space Planning and Design focuses on the reshaping of space based on form and function. With an emphasis on portfolio-building and internships, the curriculum provides students with a strong foundation in design history, design theory, and industry know-how that will serve them as they solve problems creatively in the creation of interior environments. Students are familiarized with art, design, and architecture, and hone skills related to residential, commercial and office design. They become proficient drafters (AutoCAD), renderers and model makers, and are knowledgeable about building codes, the selection of furnishings, and material specifications. Students find success as interior design assistants; space planners; showroom staff; set designers; home furnishings coordinators; interior decorators; lighting consultants; and showroom managers.
