San Jose State University

Interior Design has been part of the offerings at San Jose State University for over fifty years. It was at SJSU that the concept of interior design as decoration was first left behind and replaced an integration of architectural and facilities planning. The program is characterized by a flexible curriculum, originality and insight, producing designers that will engage the global design industry in areas such as institutional, corporate, healthcare, office, restaurant, retail, and special housing design. The curriculum, linked closely with the NCIDQ exam, undergoes constant revision to ensure that graduates receive complete training for today’s careers. Faculty members bring a wide range of specialized skills and abilities to the program, among them, facility planning, hotel and restaurant design, furniture design, interior architecture and lighting design.
