West Valley College

West Valley College’s nationally accredited (FIDER), comprehensive Interior Design program has a professional focus and puts emphasis on the interrelation among interior design, architecture and the visual and decorative arts. Students who graduate from West Valley’s interior design program are able to recognize, research and solve problems creatively, producing high quality, functional interior design through expert knowledge of the construction of interiors, equipment, building codes, furnishings and materials. These projects always keep the welfare, safety and health of the general public in mind. The program offers interior design certificates and three specialized advanced certificates in Kitchen and Bath Design, Computer Aided Drafting and Design, and Facilities Planning Design. The department has collaborated with the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) to create the Kitchen and Bath specialty. The CAD certificate greatly enhances students careers, as employers are seeking students with this type of specialized training. Students pursuing the Facilities Planning and Design Certificate will work closely with instructors who are also industry experts in this field and will receive focused training which will aid them in landing these sought-after positions.
