Keystone Technical Institute

Keystone Technical Institute was founded in 1980 with the primary purpose of educating and training the people of Dauphin County with quality programs in the allied health and business fields. Keystone Technical Institute is located in the foothills of the Blue Mountains just north of the city of Harrisburg, PA. KTI offers several diploma, certificate, and associate's degree programs for students wishing to gain an education and begin work in that field upon completion.


Career programs include administrative assistant, medical assistant, fitness trainer, Internet technologies, drafting, dental assistance, massage therapy, medical billing, culinary arts, and more. For students looking for design and arts degrees there is an associate's degree in culinary arts as well as an associate's degree in professional massage therapy. The culinary arts degree is 65 credits and can be completed during the day or at night. The day program can be completed in as little as 15 months and the night program in 20 months. The culinary program provides the student with the required skills to assume an entry-level position in the culinary arts field. Typical positions include sous chefs, garde managers, kitchen managers, line cooks, and first cooks. Students also learn the business side of the profession by acquiring financial, management, and marketing skills. The program ends with an 11 credit internship giving students the ability to put their skills to use in the field.

The massage therapy program is a 70 credit program and can also be taken in the day or evening. The day program is 15 months and the evening program is 20 months. Students will learn competencies in medical massage, kinesiology, sports massage, muscle testing, Swedish massage, lymph drainage, and several other therapeutic modalities. Graduates of the massage program also learn required bookkeeping, computer, and job hunting skills. The massage therapy program concludes with an 8.5 credit externship allowing the student to practice skills learned in a working environment.
