StarWorld Hotel and Casino in Macau has been honored with the prestigious Best Casino Interior Design award.
The International Gaming Awards, one of the most respected awarding organizations in the industry, this year recognized a hotel and gaming complex located in downtown Macau.
StarWorld was developed as a 39-story building on reclaimed land. The building featuring a shimmering facade houses a 140,000 square feet casino, 5 floors of VIP gaming halls with an average of 4,000 to 6,000 square feet per hall, 507 hotel rooms and suites and numerous restaurants and entertainment spots.
"Casino Interior Design award at the International Gaming Awards recognizes the outstanding designs currently happening in the casino sector," said Paulo A. Azevedo, publisher and founder of Macau Business Magazine.
He added that the StarWorld was chosen based on its "originality, innovative style, customer wow factor, quality of materials used and environmental [friendliness]."
The competition for the award was intense, and the Macau establishment won over casinos such as the Las Vegas-based The Palazzo, Casino Monte Carlo in France, Shangri-La Storm in Russia and the Isle Capri and Opera House, both in the UK.
The award was presented during a gala dinner night at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London.
