There are many factors to consider when selecting a school to pursue one''s education - particularly in the world of design. To help make that decision a little easier, the Design Futures Council compiles an annual list of the best architecture and design schools - and in 2009 Philadelphia''s Drexel University has shown great potential by ranking in the top 10 in both categories.
The publication, entitled Design Intelligence, analyzes data from a survey issued to industry professionals at the country''s largest architecture and design firms where designers are asked which school best prepared their students for the workplace.
"The strength of (our) interior design and interior architecture and design (programs) is the quality, experience and commitment of our faculty," claims Allen Sabinson, the school''s dean. "Our faculty boasts expertise in all forms of residential and commercial design, and a number of our faculty are experts in sustainability. The program is committed to a process of continually revising curriculum to keep current with the field."
The school is also unique due to its co-op learning experience that allows student designers to gain real world experience while studying.
