Long Island-based designer Steve Madden has decided to expand the items available under his eponymous line of footwear and accessories by adding women''s jewelry to the company''s design slate this fall.

The new line, the product of a partnership with Lucas Design international, is the company''s first attempt at jewelry design in its 20-year history. The line is expected to be distributed to high-end department stores and specialty shops over the coming year.

Designs will consist of a variety of real and of costume jewelry based on the latest trends in pop culture and film.

"In today''s challenging economy, very few products help a woman differentiate herself more than her accessories, particularly her shoes and jewelry," said Daniel Landver, the CEO of Lucas Design. "[We are] very excited at the opportunity to create unique fashion jewelry for the Steve Madden customer."

Executives from Steve Madden were also excited for the new partnership, with CEO Edward Rosenfeld highlighting Lucas Design''s years of experience in the fashion industry as key in the endeavor, calling the company "an excellent partner in this endeavor."
