Designers unveil video game based on ABCs Wipeout

Nintendo DS and Wii players will soon have the opportunity to take on a virtual obstacle course, as designers from Activision Publishing have created a video game based on the ABC reality challenge show Wipeout.
In partnership with ABC and Endemol USA, which produces the show, Activision designers modeled Wipeout: The Game after the obstacles contestants face, including the Sucker Punch, Big Balls and Sweeper.
Up to four players can go head-to-head by making their avatars run, jump, dodge and throw objects at one another. During the games, virtual hosts provide commentary similar to that featured on the show.
David Goldberg, chairman of Endemol North America, said that the video game is designed to enable individuals "who express their interest in running the Wipeout course" a chance to do so, " minus the mud, foam, colored paint and cold water in the comfort of their homes."
Wipeout: The Game will become available to Nintendo DS and Wii users this summer, around the same time the show's third season is slated to begin.
