On the heels of the release of his latest twisted fairytale Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton has already been linked to a new animation project.
MSN reports the director will lend his imagination a new stop-motion version of The Addams Family. Burton used this medium to create two of his signature films, The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride.
The film will be based on the original cartoons by the late Charles Addams that were published in the New Yorker rather than the television show, subsequent movies or forthcoming Broadway musical.
Addams, who has been dead for more than two decades, has received a great deal of recognition in recent months. The New York Times reports that the Museum of the City of New York is currently hosting a show called Charles Addams's New York. The exhibit features a series of the cartoonist's works that portray everyday life in a grim and gothic light.
In addition, a book called The Addams Family: An Evilution, which traces the development of the artist's signature characters, is currently in the process of being published, according to the news source.
