In an effort to recognize innovation in design projects across the globe, W Hotels and the Design Miami/Basel forum to give out the revamped W Hotels Designers of the Future Award.
The prize - which was originally created by the international organization in 2006 as the Designers of the Future Award - is intended to recognize young and emerging designers whose work reflects innovation in their respective industries. The redesigned prize will take into account each candidate's ability to incorporate many elements into their pieces, such as art, sociology, science and experiential design.
As a result of the partnership, the award will now enable the winners to showcase their work in various W hotels across the globe. The winners of this year's prize were announced today at the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
Eva Ziegler, global brand leader for the hotel chain, said that this partnership with Design Miami/Basel is intended to help both parties identify and work with "rising stars in design."
This year, W Hotels plans to open new locations in London and Istanbul, which may feature the work of the award winners.
