Will Wright, video game designer and creator of The Sims series, will partner with the Science Channel to create a television series and special programming, Reuters reports.

The shows will address topics such as time travel, different worlds and the future, and each episode will have online and interactive components. Network representatives say that the programming will attempt to reflect the sensibility Wright used to create his games.

This initiative is one of the network's attempts to shift from science-based shows to programming that explores creativity. For example, the network recently partnered with Steven Spielberg to create a documentary detailing the rebuilding of the World Trade Center site in New York City.

Network executives approached Wright because they wish to "take the way he engages an audience in gaming and bring that into a show," Debbie Meyers, general manager of the Science Channel, told Reuters.

Although further details about the show have not been revealed, Strategy Informer reported last month that Wright has discussed ideas for a series called The Creation Project, which would use audience participation to lead the storyline.
