The newest trends in home design will be on display this week at the High Point Market, which will give retailers and designers from around the world a look this season's newest looks for the home.
The tradeshow will be put on by High Point Market Authority in North Carolina from April 17 to 22. This year, many designers say that despite gloomy economic conditions, they expect to see lots of color.
Erin Davis, designer at Global Views said that, in these tough times, people may be looking for something fun and exciting to give their rooms some cheer.
"It's the lipstick theory," she said. "In difficult times a woman will buy a bright red lipstick because it's an inexpensive way to punch up her look. Buying something small and colorful and fun for a room provides the same kind of lift."
Designers budgeting will still be a significant factor for shoppers, but that doesn't mean people aren't looking for something that feels special.
