Designer releases collection of 70s 80s inspired clothing

New designer Mike Gonzalez will soon release his fall 2010 collection, which has been described as refined rawness, or the place where disco meets punk. Gonzalez reports being inspired by stylish club culture of the late 1970s and the aggressive, antiestablishment movement of 1980s rock in the east side of Los Angeles.
Convertibility is the main characteristic of the collection, which features the LUC trench, a coat that easily transitions into a cropped blazer. The FRANCO tank has the ease of a day time t-shirt, with the glamor of evening wear.
"It is a time where I believe women need to get as much value for each purchase they make. Each piece needs to have the ability to transition and be multi-purposeful, so it really becomes a worthy investment," said the designer.
Gonzalez, who plays with proportion and texture, created the collection using details such as ruffles, suede, fringed leather and quilting.
The collection will be available at boutiques in New York, Los Angeles, Switzerland, Japan and Hong Kong.
