This year's London Fashion Week is expected to display great talent. World-famous and up-and-coming designers will be showcasing their collections for critics, clients, press, celebrities and fans. For instance, the A La Mode show at the Charing Cross Hotel will feature several promising designers whose collections are highly anticipated.
Women's tailoring expert Belinda Liu will be among many fashion designers who will present their spring/summer 2011 lines. The self-taught designer has said that this collection is for lovers of classic beauty.
Liu is trying to redefine women's fashion and believes that now is the "time for a new revolution...it is about gaining back dignity and personality. Women were meant to be feminine"
She says that she designs for sexual, powerful women who appreciate sophistication. However, through Liu's designs, she shows that innocence can be daring. The designer often uses whips and gags as props in her photo shoots.
Liu's previous collections have been paired with flawlessly clean-looking makeup. Her designs often incorporate romantic floral prints and translucent materials, with more masculine touches such as tweed and leather. The final product is a look of glamor and power.
The occasionally avant-garde designer and daughter of a painter rejects structured learning, and prefers to design by instinct. Her personal tenet is "no pain, no gain."
