Monotype Imaging Holdings has opened the application process for its first annual Web Font Awards, which will honor winners based on the creativity, usability and typography of their projects. Honorees will be given several prizes, including two cash awards worth $3,000 each and several Apple and Montoype products.
Interested individuals are asked to design and launch websites using font technology, which must be capable of loading on certain internet-based devices. Also, contest officials report that there is no limit to how many entries each participant can submit.
November 7 is the last day submissions will be accepted, and winning projects will be named on November 16.

He added that Monotype Imaging Holdings created "the Web Font Awards to celebrate this newfound typographic freedom, while also promoting awareness, adoption and outstanding use of fonts on the web."
By 2018, graphic designers, including those who specialize in web design, can expect to see a 13 percent employment increase, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
