Professional wedding photography is an art that takes skill, and tutoring may help. On January 13 and 14, Professional Photographers of America (PPA) is going to offer a workshop for individuals to learn more about the industry.
The Business of Wedding Photography is designed to be an informative session geared toward professional wedding photographers, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Jennifer Roggi of Stephen Charles Photography and Todd Reichman of Reichman Photography will lead the workshops to discuss the financial and legal aspects of the business.
"This workshop will cover all of the key subjects critical to establishing a financially profitable studio," chief financial officer, Scott Kurkian told the newspaper. "It will frame those topics in the context of wedding photography, which has quite a different business model than other photographic specialties."
The goal is to educate part- or full-time professionals who are just entering the industry, including recent photography school graduates. The number of photography jobs is expected to grow by 12 percent over the next eight years, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
