Many artists are honored for their work after they are long gone, but Iowa State University has made it a point to reflect on the talent of its students and artists in the making. This week, the school recognized individuals for their hard work at an exhibition hosted at the college of design.
The 31st Annual Art and Design Juried Exhibition opened its doors to the public on November 11. The collection is made up of student art work, according to Iowa State Daily. Individuals had the opportunity to submit up to two pieces throughout the year leading up to the event. Faculty attended the exhibition, along with parents and grandparents who traveled from across the country to see their loved ones' work.
The pieces on display ranged from a cigar box electric guitar to simple paint and canvas. Students enrolled in classes including graphic design and integrated studio arts had their work on display. The exhibition overall included a wide variety of art.
Artist jobs are predicted to increase by 12 percent over the next eight years, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
