Kling to debut line for HM

Although H&M has been known for its high-end, occasionally pricey fashion in the past, the clothing retailer has recently attempted to reach out to everyday consumers by bringing in designers to create affordable pieces. Its latest spokesperson may not be as prominent as the designers that have been recruited in the past, but H&M expects her to turn heads.
Swedish blogger Elin Kling was recently named the latest designer to help H&M create chic pieces for the average girl. Kling has been blogging about fashion since 2007, but has caught the attention of the public eye since showcasing her designs.
"It has been very inspiring to be able to work so closely with the design team at H&M, and I'm incredibly happy with the results," Kling wrote on her website.
Kling's designs will only be featured at a handful of H&M locations in Sweden, but the decision to recruit the blogger may be a sign of things to come for the company. Experts say that H&M appears to be attempting to reach out to a new target audience interested in affordable fashion, in addition to their current patrons.
Employment in fashion design is predicted to rise by 1 percent over the next seven years, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
