The chances of an animated film becoming successful vary per case, but having a popular actor provide the voice of a main character can increase the chances. Recently, DreamWorks announced that they plan to create a movie featuring Mr. Peabody and Sherman, two characters from the Rocky and Bullwinkle series. Actor Robert Downy Jr. has agreed to play to voice of the dog, Mr. Peabody.
"I've loved the time-traveling adventures of 'Mr. Peabody and Sherman' since I was a kid," Rob Minkoff, who is directing the movie, told On The Red Carpet. "There's something irresistibly charming about the idea that the world's smartest person is a dog who adopts a 'pet' boy."
The movie is scheduled to be released in 3-D by 2014. The original cartoon debuted in the 1950s, using animation to teach children about notable historical events. Downy Jr. is known for starring in the Iron Man series. Thus far, no lines have been recorded for the film, which is in its beginning stages.
Employment of multimedia artists and animators is predicted to increase by 14 percent over the next seven years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
