All-natural land bridge a landmark in architecture

Those interested in architecture design should take note of a new structure soon to be built on Highway 69 in Ontario, Canada. The bridge going over the speedway will feature the region's first wildlife bridge, a crossing for animals that features grass, trees and protection from the road.

The eco-pass is being built by the Ministry of Natural Resources in conjunction with The Ontario Ministry of Transportation. The bridge is being put into place as parts of the highway are being expanded into four lanes, putting some wildlife at risk.

The bridge will be 30-meters wide and located at a place where high numbers of animal collisions have been recorded. In addition to smaller animals such as porcupines and raccoons, larger creatures including black bears, elk and moose have been killed at the site.

The base of the bridge is completed, but the landscaping of the top will be completed over this year. In addition to featuring natural elements, the bridge will be completely shielded visually.
