New playground design in the beginning stages

Nanuet, New York, just celebrated its annual Design Day this past Tuesday. One of the main topics that was discussed during the day was the future of the Highview Playground, according to the New City Patch.

Last year, the town's playground was demolished and the community came together to raise money for a new park to be built.

During Design Day, the residents of Nanuet decided to hire the architecture company, Leathers and Associates, which was the same company that worked on the previous park. The architects from the business interviewed the families, children and residents and asked what they were looking for in their next park. After collecting the results, the company drafted the first template of the playground. The planning is still in the first phase and there will be several events to help raise more money for the new park, the news source reports.

Architecture design students who are looking to design playgrounds and other outdoor facilities may have the opportunity. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job market in this field is expected to increase by 16 percent between 2008 and 2018.
