The plans for a new main street design is in effect in Orland Park, Illinois. At the village board meeting on April 18, it was decided that there would be money taken out to give an advance to the architects and engineers personnel on this project, according to the Orland Park Patch.

The board voted to take $300,000 and put it towards the first phase of their triangle main street design, which has been debated for several years. The layout is expected to be a walkable city center that is surrounded by the train station as well as restaurants and shops, according to the media outlet.

“This is such a large project that we need to get the ball rolling on the architecture to get better estimates,” said Orland Park village manager Paul Grimes to the news source.

Architecture design students create everything from buildings to town centers, such as the one in Orland Park. These individuals can earn up to $70,000 when they enter the field after graduation, which was the annual salary for professionals in 2008, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
