Interior designers and twin sisters, Jayne and Joan Michaels, are from New York City, and once the cold, winter weather leaves the city and the season changes, so do their designs, according to the New York Times.

"We head right for the water," Jayne told the publication. "It's all about relaxing, especially after being in the city."

The Michaels sisters own a design firm, 2Michaels, and their major advice to other designers and home owners is in these summer months, try finding the "flop factor."

"We love to have things on the floor, like floor cushions that you can just pull up and relax in," Jayne added to the media outlet

The sisters also like to incorporate nature in homes without overdoing it by using canvas, linen, cotton and wicker, the news provider reports.

Individuals who are interested in interior design may be able to land a job after they graduate with a design degree. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job market in this field is expected to increase by 19 percent between 2008 and 2018.
