Michelle Obama is going to Utah for a visit, and a 12-year-old fashion designer wants the first lady to wear the dress he designed, according to the news channel KSL-TV.
Grant Mower entered the contest to see who could design a dress for the first lady, and he beat out high school and college fashion design students to win.
The young Mower has already dealt with bullies making fun of his passion.
"He would look for validation, and not get it, so he'd come home from school and it would take him three hours for me to just get him back," Moanna Mower, the boy's mother, told the news source. "And out of desperation I would do things like, do you want to watch a Versace fashion show?"
Individuals who are interested in fashion design may want to know how much they will earn as a professional in this field. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the annual median salary in 2008 was $61,000. However, the top 10 percent of fashion designers made more than $125,000.
