The annual Aurora Awards, which honors the individuals who work on various designs of buildings and structures in the Southeast, took place this past week.
One of the winners was Marc-Michaels Interior Design, for the firm's design and development of a home in Boca Raton.
According to the Herald-Tribune, it was not just interior designers who won one of these awards - architect Jonathan Parks won two honors for the unique blueprints belonging to a house and a nightclub in Sarasota.
"During the presentations, I was talking to an intern we brought to the awards ceremony," Parks told the news source. "I told her I didn't think we were going to win any Grand awards, and five seconds later, the first Grand Aurora winner was us. It really surprised us."
Individuals who are interested in a career in interior design may be able to land a job once they graduate from their design programs. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in this field is expected to increase by 19 percent between 2008 and 2018.
