Many people move each year, and when a person moves into a new space, there are a couple of things they should keep in mind before furnishing the whole space in one big swoop.

It is advisable to outline each room in the home, and figure out exactly what is needed for that space. From there, people are able to decide what they want to keep and toss, and what types of new furnishes are necessary.

"So many people want to get their new homes 'finished' as soon as possible, but it's important to live with a space for a while, and find furniture and accessories you love that really fit the space," said Courtney Jones, owner of a interior design company in San Francisco. "It's much cheaper than continuing to replace things that weren't quite right."

Individuals who are interested in becoming interior designers may be able to land a job after they graduate from their design programs. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in this field is expected to increase by 19 percent between 2008 and 2018.
