Associate - Computer-Aided Design
The degree program in Computer-Aided Design Technology (CAD) was developed and organized for the students who are planning to begin their careers with CAD software immediately after graduation. Because of small classes, our students receive individual instruction, allowing this program to provide the comprehensive skills and knowledge necessary for the development of accurate computer-aided graphics, design and drafting applications. Major emphasis is placed on the use of several CAD applications such as AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop and Microstation coupled with graphic theory and the related fundamentals of technical design. This program will also equip the student to convert ideas and sketched drawings into orthographic projections, detailed drawings, floor plan assembly drawings and three-dimensional drawings. Among the positions available to graduates of the CAD Technology program are: CAD operator, CAD designer, CAD manager, CAD technician, CAD coordinator, design draftsperson, technical sales, and CAD instructor, or graduates may transfer appropriate credits to a four-year degree program.
Associate - Web Design
The Web Design Technology (WDT) program prepares students for entry-level positions in the field of Web site design and programming, as well as provides the hands-on skills and knowledge that an Internet professional is expected to understand and utilize. The program trains students how to present information in an interesting and credible method, to design and develop animations and to create images for display on Web sites. This curriculum applies human-factor principles to design, implement, and maintain hypertext-based publishing sites using authoring and scripting languages, management tools, and digital media tools for the PC and Macintosh platforms. The job market is in demand for the Information Technology field - specifically in the area of Internet operations. The WDT associate degree will qualify students for entry-level positions in Web site design, development and management. Students who complete the program are prepared for the Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) series of certifications. Graduates may be employed in positions with job titles such as Webmaster, Web Designer, Web Developer, Web Editor, Project Director, Multimedia Designer, Animator, Multimedia Programmer, Instructional Designer, or related occupations. People with the technical skills seeking employment in the Information Technology field will discover several unique opportunities.
