Employment opportunities in many entry-level jobs in the photographic industry, including portraiture, photojournalism, lab processing specialists, studio photographers, photographer's assistants and freelance photographers can by found by graduates of the Photography degree or certificate programs.

Digital images and other computer enhancement of photographs are being used more frequently in the rapidly growing area of the photographic industry, especially in commercial applications. More people are looking for photographers skilled in this new technology and the trend will continue.

To gain more job opportunities with more variety, some students continue their photographic education with a bachelor's degree. Students may choose to transfer to the Bachelor's program at Columbia College in Chicago or Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA after completing their initial training at College of DuPage.

In the greater Chicago area, the photography education facilities at College of DuPage are highly esteemed. The darkrooms are divided into separate spaces for black-and-white and color photography. Each is furnished with comprehensive equipment. Studios used for portraiture, product and fashion photography, have 2 1/4" x 2 3/4", 4" x 5" and 8" x 10" cameras, as well as a wide selection of flash and tungsten lighting equipment. For digital imaging classes, there is a high-end Macintosh computer lab with scanners and printers.
