University of Dayton offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Photography, with the intent of providing individuals with a thorough understanding of the medium of photography. Studio and art history requirements comprise approximately sixty-five percent of the requirements for the Photography B.F.A. degree. Students enrolled in photography electives have a choice of highlighting photography in advertising, fine art, digital imaging or photojournalism.
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) major in Photography combines a strong, diverse education in liberal arts, with a program of photography studio courses. Up to forty percent of the program is the study of history. Students are encouraged to enhance their photography studies by selecting courses outside of their major or even considering a minor or second major in another discipline.
