San Jose City College

San José City College's Photography Program serves two purposes. While we prepare our graduates for transfer to four-year colleges, universities, institutions, and art or technical schools, we also prepare students and retrain people for new and emerging positions in the fields of photo and digital imagery. Photography provides a vehicle for us to learn about others, our environment, and even ourselves.

Photography allows people to exchange information and ideas.

Our small classes allow for a one-on-one learning environment. Using digital and wet darkrooms, we give our students the best possible chance to prepare for a future in photography using the best from the past and today.

Facilities include lecture and studio space, a black and white lab for 20 students featuring Omega 4 X 5 enlargers, a color photography lab with 10 enlarging devices and a Kreonite Type C color processing unit, and ample space for activities such as film developing, mounting, and special work.
