This is the northernmost and largest New England state, and its bordered by Canada on three sides. Maine's land is all covered by forests with a large variety of vegetation, but it is famous because of its pines, specially its beautiful white pine forests. That is why Maine economy is based on forest related industries, such as paper, pulp, wood and toothpciks. But what can attract to design students to go to Maine is its nice landscape, full of forest, water and a rugged coastline where you can see lighthouses, sandy beaches, traditional fishing villages and many islands.
