Vancouver Institute of Media Arts (VanArts)

Vancouver Institute of Media Arts is located in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. VanArts offers one-year diploma programs for visual, media, and performing arts. Vancouver Institute of Media Arts offers both full-time and part-time courses. VanArts core subject areas are: animation, photography, game art & design, acting, and visual effects. Students can complete full-time programs, which run 9 to 12 months, or part-time courses. Part-time courses offer a basic introduction, and students can use them to learn skills specific to their career or as an intro to a full-time program.

VanArts\' full-time programs start twice per year, and run for 9 or 12 months. Depending on the specific program, students might graduate with a diploma, portfolio or demo reel, business plan, website, industry contacts, a computer and software, and the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue a professional career.

Vancouver Institute of Media Arts graduates have gone on to pursue successful professional careers with impressive credits. Some VanArts students have worked on Harry Potter, Angels & Demons, GI Joe, Propaganda Games, and have produced award-winning short films. VanArts has connections with several local studios and can help students make connections, but does not offer a formal job placement program.

VanArts does not provide housing for students, but does provide students with the resources to locate housing nearby, and in conjunction with other major Vancouver universities. Vancouver Institute of Media Arts students may be eligible for financial aid, including Canadian Government Student Loans, student lines of credit, withdrawing from RRSPs or RESPs, or other financial aid. Tuition is comparable to other programs, and part-time courses can be applied to a full-time program if students later enroll full-time.
