BA in Interactive Digital Design The liberal arts interactive digital design major at Quinnipiac University emphasizes the synthesis of artistic expression and technological expertise in a curriculum that puts interactive digital design in the larger context of the humanities and society. Course work includes a balance of theory, concept and practice. The Foundation Graduates have a foundation in digital imaging, layout, typography, navigation, information architecture and Web design and development. This foundation is augmented with an in-depth understanding of computer technology, combined with advanced study in graphic design, layout and production, multimedia authoring and computer graphics animation. The Portfolio & the Internship As part of their study, students develop creative projects in all program courses, which are then compiled, edited and refined into a professional portfolio in the capstone senior seminar and portfolio. Students are also encouraged to complete an internship in an IDD-related organization to ground and complement their course work. The minor in IDD provides students with a basic literacy, understanding and competency for creating, designing and authoring original interactive art and design for CD-ROMs, DVDs, desktop presentation and for the World Wide Web. A minor may be combined with any major inside or outside the College of Liberal Arts, complementing majors or minors in other disciplines on campus. The minor emphasizes artistic creativity, experimentation and technological competence grounded in a critical understanding of the arts and related areas of the humanities. Minor in Interactive Arts The minor in interactive arts focuses on the interactive capabilities of the digital arts in conjunction with other arts, from drawing to photography. The minor includes courses in digital art, animation, Web design, graphic design, photography or studio art in consultation with the department chair (18 credits).
