Computer Information Systems Internet Specialist (Web Site Design) Diploma The CIS-Internet Specialist (Web Site) program trains the student to enter the continuously expanding field of web site design. Students learn to design, build, and maintain web sites for individuals and industry. Students receive classroom instruction and hands-on experience on the latest in technology and software. Students also gain valuable knowledge and experience in scripting languages, web site design tools, and multimedia applications and graphics. The graduates will receive a CIS-Internet Specialist (Web Site) Diploma. Length of Program A total of 88 credit hours are required for graduation, according to the specialization selected. A full-time student can expect to complete the program in five to six quarters, again many of the CIS courses are available online. Personal Characteristics To succeed in the CIS program and an office career, a person should enjoy computer applications programs, have the ability to multi-task, desire to work inside daily in an office environment, be able to spend long lengths of time at a desk, possess decision making skills, work under pressure, work under little supervision, and have strong customer service skills. Web Site Design Associate Technical Certificate of Credit Program Description In this age of instant access to information, more and more people want to create a "Web presence" for themselves or their businesses. The Web Site Design Associate program will give them the knowledge needed to create a personal or business Web site. Student competencies focus on good Web site design and multimedia enhancements. Length of Program A total of 20 credit hours is required for completion of the Introduction to Web Site Design Associate technical certificate program. Web Site Design Specialist Technical Certificate of Credit The Web Site Design Specialist certificate provides the hands-on skills and knowledge that an Internet professional is expected to understand and be able to use. Skills include basic knowledge of Internet technologies, network infrastructure, and Web authoring using HTML. This certificate applies human-factor principles to design, implement, and maintain hypertext-based publishing sites using authoring and scripting languages, content creation and management tools, and digital media tools. Students will learn to build client and server-side Web application using Rapid Application Development tools and component technologies to implement two-tier database connectivity solutions. Length of Program A total of 51 credit hours is required for completion of the Web Site Design Specialist technical certificate program.
