Schoolcraft College
Computer Graphics Technology If working with color and shapes, text and type excites you, Schoolcraft College is the place to be. We have four programs in Computer Graphics Technology that can take you from novice to knowledgeable. The first program-a one-year foundation certificate-introduces you to the basics of art and design and graphics software. The second program-a more advanced certificate-builds on this and allows you to select a specialty to focus on: animation, multimedia, publishing or Web design. The third option leads to an associate degree, and features a pair of capstone courses for practicing what you've learned: a portfolio course required of everyone, and a practicum course working with area businesses, an internship or an honors-level project. Already earned a degree, but hungry for more? Our post-associate degree certificate program may be just the ticket. It allows you to develop a computer graphics specialty while updating your knowledge of the newest techniques and technologies. The Computer Graphics Technology Programs prepare students for a career in the fields of graphic design and computer graphics. Students learn how to use professional level software, hardware and peripherals, and to apply the principles of design, typography, and color theory to the creation of effective print- and electronic-based visual communication. It is highly recommended that students meet with faculty for advice in selecting their electives. All courses are not offered each semester. Students should work with the Counseling Department to set up a schedule that will work for them. Students who satisfactorily complete all College Requirements qualify for the Associate in Applied Science Degree. Students who satisfactorily complete the Program Courses qualify for a certificate of program completion. Students wishing to pursue a Post-Associate Certificate must have a CGT Associate Degree or equivalent professional experience. Computer Graphics Technology- Web Design One-Year Certificate
