Web Design Technology (A.A.S.)
The E-Business track in the Web Design Technology program, prepares graduates for the variety of positions in the field of Web site development. E-Commerce, as it is commonly referred to as, is the advertising, selling, and buying of products and services online.
Technical skills in planning, designing, developing, publishing and managing Web sites for an on-line business, is something the E-Business track will provide for students.
To facilitate engagement in the sphere of electronic commerce, the program weaves business and computer skills together. This approach teaches students how to attract people to the Web site, what to do with the customers once they are on the Web site, how to provide services through the Internet, and how to understand the major business disciplines.
Both contemporary business courses and traditional liberal courses incorporate hands-on computer skills and are included in the E-business track. The class will cover technical and conceptual understanding for gaining successful employment. Web site development skills, Information Technology skills and concepts, E-commerce skills, Business concepts, and personal skills will be among those developed.
Students completing the program will have the ability to carry out basic functional World Wide Web operations such as browsing and searching, and FTP (file transfer protocol). Students will have the ability to comprehend the roles of the Internet, Intranet, and Internet tools in business as well as the ways in which these technologies are used to improve efficiency and profits. It will be possible to make use of available computer applications and software to improve business operations and incorporate the effective elements and principles of design into E-Business. Students will also be able to understand and relate concepts and methods involving electronic business with others. Students will also be capable of developing marketing plans for companies engaged in electronic business, and identify real-world design problems and know how to secure transactions by employing payment gateway, inventory control, shipping and order information, and site performance testing and evaluation. There should be an understanding and relationship established among customer service, interaction among users, promoters and marketing customers.
