The growth of the Internet and the expansion of the World Wide Web (the graphical portion of the Internet) have generated a variety of occupations related to the design, development, and maintenance of Web sites and their servers. For example, webmasters are responsible for all technical aspects of a Web site, including performance issues such as speed of access, and for approving the content of the site. Internet developers or Web developers, also called Web designers, are responsible for day-to-day site design and creation. The Information Technology/Web Design major prepares students to enter the field of web and computer graphic design. Students learn how to develop professional computer graphics for business solutions. Students study Internet basics, web page design, computer 2D/3D graphic and game design, multimedia design and computer programming. Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are developed through training.The importance of good communication and teamwork skills is emphasized throughout the program. Specific program objectives are: * Graduates will be able to create well-designed, user-friendly, interactive media. * Graduates will be able to demonstrate solid graphic design concepts that may be applied in a number of applications, including but not limited to web site creation. * Graduates will be able to demonstrate collegiate level competency in reading, oral and written communication skills and proficiency in mathematics.
