Southwest Florida College's Web Design and Development program explores the basics of Website Design. The program enables students to understand and apply Internet concepts to the design and development of Web sites through the acquisition of appropriate skills and knowledge. You will explore the various site design models used in personal, commercial and government Web sites. You will also design Web pages and Web sites utilizing a variety of techniques and software tools. All aspects of web site design, creation, and programming, including integration with databases via back-ends and optimizing web sites for speed, will be covered in the program.
Students enrolled in the Web Design and Development programs learn how to design on both Macintosh and PC platforms to make them the most employable professionals in the area. Students will learn how to effectively use Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Java, Javascript, CSS, XHTML and HTML. SQL, ASP, and PHP will also be studied to enable back end development.
Upon successful completion of the Web Design and Development program at Southwest Florida College, each student will possess a professional portfolio. Both freehand and computer generated graphic work, will be present in the portfolio, which can be referenced while applying for employment. Entry-level positions as web designers and developers with advertising agencies, graphic design companies, web development companies, freelance, and much more can be pursued by graduates.
